M1 Mac Mini Big Sur Server 5.11 Ineritance Not working

When setting up shared folders with Users and groups and applying custom users or groups, the folders are not inheriting the permissions of the parent folders. Can anyone please help with how to fix this?

Permissions issue on file sharing when a user creates a new folder I work at graphic design company and have set up file sharing on an OWC RAID via a 2018 Mac mini running MacOs Big Sur 11.4. I am experiencing an issue where if a user creates a new folder, all other users are not able to make changes to the folder (example copy files into the folder or create new folders within that folder) All users have access to the root folders and I turned on "Apply permissions to enclosed items" Hoping someone can help

files share with Mac (Catalina) show up with <no access> permissions. hello, Using shared folder, and it’s somewhat working , in that my scanner and another PC on the network can drop files into the folder. The problem is the file’s permissions wind up being Nobody <read/write> and everyone <no access>. This makes it problematic for me to open/use the files, as I have to manually change the permissions every time. I have tried setting the privileges of the shared folder to r/w, then choosing apply to enclosed items, but that only affects files currently existing - not any files added after. Also in systemPreferences>sharing, in File Sharing, I’ve set administrator, my id and everyone to be R/W, and also right-clicked to app permissions to enclosed items. Ideas?

I believe you have to manually configure the ACLs. The file server functions were dropped from Server a while ago. You must add the ACLs in Terminal using chmod.
