My AirPods 2 are not available for Apple Care

I just purchased Air Pods 2, are these not available for Apple Care. When I enter the Serial Number, the messages states that Apple Care is not available for these Air Pods

I have heard of other cases where the online site indicated that AirPods were not eligible. I know of no reason why they would not be if they were purchased within the last 60 days.

Also, the warranty in the U.S. is one year, not 90 days. 90 days is the free support period but hardware warranty is 1 year.

My previous reply recommended trying one of the methods OTHER THAN the online site -- see the following two other methods:

  • At an Apple Store (inspection of headphones and proof of purchase are required)
  • By calling 800-275-2273 (requires you to provide proof of purchase)

Try one of the other methods described below from https://www.apple.com/support/products/headphones/

How to buy

  1. Purchase AppleCare+ with your new headphones.
  2. Or buy it within 60 days of your headphones purchase:
    • Online
    • At an Apple Store (inspection of headphones and proof of purchase are required)
    • By calling 800-275-2273 (requires you to provide proof of purchase)

I appreciate the input but it was precisely online where I was purchasing from the Apple Care site, that after I input the serial number I received a message which informed me the Airpods, (based on the serial number), were not eligible for Apple Care. I'm sorry if that wasn't clearer in my initial question. I am merely confirming from others who might know better that, in fact, my new Air Pods, Generation 2 are not eligible for Apple Care. I would not have spent the money on them if I knew I would only gain 90 days warranty.

Thankfully the mystery was solved today. I had purchased the Airpods on Amazon Prime day. My ability to have a proof of purchase was somewhat limited. Also the serial number wasn't registering. I called Apple Support and they helped me straighten it all out. I merely provided the order number and she was able to verify my purchase and attach pods and serial number to my Apple account. I now have Apple Care on my new Airpods and am very happy. Thanks for your input it did point me in the right direction, knowing I had to supply proof of purchase.
