I am pressing the command shift 5 but the screen-recorder isn't starting

Hello, Devesh_Sood.

After you press command-shift-5, then look at the bottom edge of you screen.

There you will find the controls to select what areas get recorded, and also to start the recording.

In the menu bar at the top you will find an icon to click when you want to end recording.
