Lost access to free 1 year subscription to Apple TV +

I received a free 1 year subscription with my Apple TV purchase. I changed my password and now have lost my subscription- how do I recover. I was only a week into the free period.

Apple TV 4K, tvOS 14

Changing the account password wouldn’t have influence on the active account subscriptions, but you will need to sign in again on all your devices that use this account using the new password.

Try signing out, then immediately sign in again.
