Why am I not receiving all app notifications (only sounds?)

Hello. I am experiencing a recent problem with my IPhone 6. For some reason, I keep receiving notification sounds for my apps, but not receiving actual notifications. At first I thought my IPhone was just making random sounds, and didn’t think it was related to the apps, but now I know this is definitely the case. I have a lot of news apps on my phone, that bring me breaking news alerts when they happen, but I’m not getting as many lately. I know this because my CNN app didn’t tell me about the awful Miami building collapse, I only found out about it later on TV... whereas in the past it definitely would’ve popped up on my phone straight away! I assume when the notification did happen, it only gave me the sound.

Also, I have to mention, it’s got nothing to do with my settings (as far as I can see). All my apps have notifications allowed, and all the alerts are ticked, including ‘Banners.’ I have the banner style set to ‘persistent’, the ‘sounds’ and ‘badges’ are on... the ‘show previews’ option is set as ‘always’, and the notification grouping is set to ‘Automatic’... this is the case for all my news apps.

So I’m a little lost as to why this is suddenly happening. Is there a fault with my IPhone or is there something else I am missing? Would resetting the phone entirely do the trick? Any help would be very much appreciated :)

I wouldn't reset the phone entirely. I'd try resetting your network settings and resetting all settings. Both can be found in Settings>General>Reset. You might want to try resetting your network settings first as all it deletes are saved WiFi passwords.
