Hello mitchellfromcelina,

Thanks for reaching out through the Apple Support Communities about using AirPlay to listen to music while at work. We'd be glad to help out. Per this article, devices such as iPhone require the same Wi-Fi connection/network: If screen mirroring or streaming isn't working on your AirPlay-compatible device

"After each step, see if you still need help.

  1. Make sure that your AirPlay-compatible devices are turned on and near each other.
  2. Check that the devices are updated to the latest software and are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Restart the devices that you want to use with AirPlay or screen mirroring.

If you're prompted to enter a password, you might have restrictions turned on, or you might need to adjust your AirPlay password settings."

Other devices such as a Mac can use an ethernet connection but this still must be connected to the same network to use AirPlay.

If your work isn't allowing your personal devices to connect to the Wi-Fi network, then you'll need to speak to the System Administrator or IT Department at your work.

Regards.
