Is it normal for your new iphone to heat up because of the new fast charger? My phone is also stuck at 80% for about 30 mins before it reaches 81%

Thanks for reaching out, bea185!

We can definitely help with the concerns you've expressed. It sounds like you're noticing the iPhone heating up when charging, and this is normal behavior. According to Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures:

"When you use the device or charge the battery, the device might get warm. You might notice that your device feels warmer in these situations:

  • When you set up your device the first time
  • When you restore from a backup
  • When apps reindex or reanalyze data, like Photos tagging for faces, places, or keywords after a software update
  • When you use graphics-intensive or augmented-reality apps or features

These conditions are normal, and your device will return to a regular temperature when complete."

You also mentioned that you notice a delay when charging for the amount of charge to go from 80% to 81%. This sounds like you have Optimized Battery Charging enabled, which is a feature where your iPhone learns from your daily charging habits to improve the lifespan of your battery. You can check out this article to learn more About Optimized Battery Charging on your iPhone.

Hope that helps.

Take care!
