Do I have to get my whole screen repaired?

I set my iPhone 11 on the counter, but I missed and it accidentally fell inside the dog's water bowl a couple of days or so ago. It still works and has been fine but now the display goes from looking like a negative and normal sporadically and sometimes "flickers" if that makes any sense. Sometimes I can barely see the screen because of the screwed-up display. Do I have to get the whole screen display replaced???

well that’s stupid

Actually, it makes a lot of sense. It can take a long time to do even a simple repair on something as complex as an iPhone. It also requires special tools, training, and, sometimes, clean rooms. Also, sometimes, you can spend a lot of time on them only to discover they're not repairable. It's much more efficient to simply take the damaged phone and ship it back to the site where they refurbish phones and replace your phone. You get to walk out with a working phone rather than having to come back hours or days (or weeks) later.

You are certainly free to take your phone to a third-party repair shop and see if they can help you. However, if you do, you will most likely forfeit any future option for an out-of-warranty replacement or a replacement under any possible recall programs.
