Hi, the Apple Card is issued by Goldman Sachs Bank and is on the Mastercard network. It can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted. Payments are made electronically using your iPhone and the Wallet App on the iPhone.

The Apple Card does not charge Foreign Transaction fees. These can typically be 2% to 5% of the transaction, so that can be a large savings. Payment conversion is done at the rate Goldman Sachs is charging on the day the charge is presented. In remote/rural locations that can be up to a week after the actual sale.

Pre-pandemic I did a lot of foreign travel. If you have specific questions or concerns, I’d be happy to try and address them.

See the following from https://www.goldmansachs.com/terms-and-conditions/Apple-Card-Customer-Agreement.pdf

TRANSACTIONS MADE IN FOREIGN CURRENCIES

Transactions, returns and credits made in a currency other than U.S. dollars will be converted into U.S. dollars. We do not add any foreign exchange rate fee to these Transactions. The conversion will be performed by Mastercard International, the payment network associated with your Account (the "Network"). The Network follows its own methods for conversions that are subject to change. The conversion will occur on the day the Transaction, return or credit is processed by the Network, which may be different than the date of the Transaction return or credit. As a result, the conversion rate may differ from the rate as of a Transaction date or the date a Transaction is posted on your Account.
