I erased my Mac, now what?

I just purchased a new Mac and am handing my old one down to my daughter. I have erased my old one and am not sure what to do now. When I install the new OS X Mavericks, there is no disk showing to install the OS to.

Is the Drive Mounted?

Boot into Recovery Mode and then mount the hard drive

In Depth

  1. Boot: into Recovery Mode [Hold Down: command + R upon boot]
  2. Select: Disk Utility
  3. Select: the Hard Drive
  4. Click: "Mount" button

Try this once more.
