range extender issues

Since updating to iOS 14.6, my iPhones (2 7s and an 8) won’t talk to my two Linksys range extenders but do talk to my T-Mobile Home Internet Gateway router. My Roku and Windows laptops all do fine with the extenders. I have done everything possible (reset extenders to factory settings, reset iPhone network settings, reset router) and no permanent improvement but temporary intermittent but limited fix and then I lose the signal.

A Few things:

How old is the Router? How old is the Range Extender? What is the Wi-Fi you are Using?

Get a Dual Band Rang Extender:

If you have an old range enter and new Apple devices, then the signal may be seen. Use Wireless AC, see if that does the trick. Dual Band is 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Which is used depends on the Wi-Fi.

A Damaged Device:

Also, the Range Extender could be a damaged device. So, return it, if an applicable option, getting one that is Wireless AC, as it is Dual Band.

Two Things:

A. Restore your iPhone from a Backup:

Have any backups of this iPhone prior to this update installation? If so, then restore your iPhone from one. If not, then take this as a learning experience, knowing to always backup your device every now-and-then, and prior to making any major change to it(i.e. update installations). Important: Back up you iPhone prior to performing this restoration, should anything go wrong from here on out.

B. Provide Apple Feedback:

Do your Part: Let Apple know about this. Apple won't get back to you directly on this, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what to include in updates to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: on when you came across this issue, and how you have troubleshot it this far.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Dual band range extenders. Fairly new. Have worked for a couple years. Worked perfectly. Just started misbehaving a couple of weeks ago. Only two things happened in the last couple of weeks: T-Mobile tells me they are modernizing the three closest poles to my house and I updated the iOS to 14.6. I have seen this issue described elsewhere in Reddit so I think this could be related to the iOS update. No solutions anywhere I have seen. Router is the T-Mobile 4G LTE router they issue with new subscription which I have only had for 7 months without issues.
