My Airpods connect to my MacBook while I'm talking on my iPhone. I tried to disconnect from laptop and it auto disconnect from iPhone as well. It seems they're linked in iCloud but I can't figure out how to prevent this and it's super annoying.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, mwade3000!

We understand you're trying to maintain your AirPods connected to your iPhone. We'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

With your AirPods connected to your iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap on the information icon for your AirPods. Here, you'll find and option named "Connect to This iPhone" which should let you select "When Last Connected to This iPhone," and should prevent your AirPods from automatically switching.

Let us know the results.

Have a great day!
