Siri Command for Music

Recently I cannot get Siri to play the music I purchased for my phone. I used to be able to say “Hey Siri, shuffle Bon Jovi “ and it would shuffle the music I purchased from my music library. Now, with the same command, Siri says “Now shuffling Bon Jovi on Pandora (or Apple Music). It selects a music app and does not play my playlists or artists. Please help!!!

Thanks for the reply!

Do you happen to have Sync Library enabled in Settings > Music? Also, did you have a chance to test if changing the phrasing of your commands help with Siri taking the right steps?

Have you ever subscribed to Apple Music, or are all of your songs purchased through the iTunes Store? If you recently enabled or disabled Sync Library, this could be the reason your music or playlists are missing:

Hey there, Cadwallader64!

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! We understand you're having trouble with Siri playing music on your iPhone. We'd like to lend a hand so you can play music without any issues.

To clarify, do you notice this issue when you specifically ask Siri to use the Music app or Pandora app? For example, "Hey Siri, shuffle Bon Jovi in Apple Music? If you're not sure, give this a try to see if that helps get Siri to use the correct application.

For additional ways to request using Siri, take a look at the following support article:

All the best.

I did not purchase Apple Music. All of the music I paid for over the years is considered “Apple Music”? I used to be able to give the simple command to shuffle a selected artist and it automatically played my purchased music. Now it goes to an app (usually pandora) Also, Siri will not play my playlists. When I open my music library my playlists are no longer there. I went to create the playlists again and when I selected create a playlist my playlist shows up. Does this mean my playlists are in my cloud? Thanks
