Error code when trying to download security software update

I have Catalina 10.15.7 and keep getting error code with trying to up-date to latest security patch.. 7E7AEE96CA. Can you help please. Thanks 27" iMac Late 2013

Are you getting it from Apple's download site or from the link in System Preferences > Software Updates?

If you are downloading from Apple's download site with FireFox, use Safari. FireFox is not happy lately with some Apple system file downloads.

If you are running anti-virus, cleaning apps, or third-party download managers (all are useless), turn them off. Same with cheap/free VPNs and ad blockers. They may be getting in the way.

Look in your Applications folder and see if any older version of the installer is already there. If so, delete it.

I'm getting from Apple's download site in System Preferences; I do have FireFox but have been using Safari for the past several months. Not running any anti-virus software, I did use a 'clean up' program a year or so ago but took it off...hopefully with a clean un-install. I'll check for older 'installer' versions too. thank you for your response.
