iPhone 12 Pro backlighting

With a 4-month old 12 Pro, the screen dims each time it is connected to a DJI drone controller. All slider settings for the auto dimming are checked off. The controller automatically charges the 12 while in use; that cannot be turned off. Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping the backlight from dimming?
