Automatic Graphics Switching - Independent Control? (Battery / Power Adapter)

I am totally baffled by why they include this option under "Battery" and "Power Adapter" settings when changing it in one changes it in the other. So you're locked down to one choice no matter if you're on battery or power adapter. Is there a way to set them independently? I want auto on when on battery and auto off when on power adapter. Has anyone figured out a way to make this happen? Running the latest version of Big Sur on a 16" MBP.
