Unable to log in to iCloud

Dear Apple,

Ive been having issues with signing-in with my account on my macbook pro 2015 retina.

Moreover, i have no idea what the issue is all about, i just know that i cannot login into my account for few weeks now, i thought it was an server or Apple internal issue.. but now i just cant stand the fact that it is possible to provide me with 'error' stamp and thats final.

Ive been reading forums, web.. nothing.

What can you do for me and should i return all my Apple products and never use them again, as this is the last time that i should be writing in this manner, especially due to this issue of signing in...

Forleast, in my country for some unknown issue, i cant be provided with proper apple help, even though Serbia is listed as certified apple countries...

Have a good day

Djordje

You have signed out Apple ID from Mac system preferences , in your screen shot it shows Apple ID address or password is incorrect .

There are few questions ( don't post your credentials here ) .

( a ) what is the version of Mac .

( b ) is the account set up with secondary authentication in which three answers for respective questions , date of birth , rescue mail address and its password is added or set up with two factor authentication .

If you have correct credentials they will be again required when you again sign in with same Apple ID and password in the empty field , click on ok .

if the Apple ID and password is incorrect , you have to click on forgot Apple ID or password , otherwise not .

You have to delete the characters inside the field ( take cursor on dead enter and keep on pressing delete key on the keyboard ) and then enter the Apple ID and then its password .

What happens when you enter correct Apple ID and password , do upcoming steps appear .

For 2FA account see the steps after the first screen shot ( delete Apple ID in red ) switching from secondary authentication t… - Apple Community

Users sign out secondary authentication account and then set up 2FA , and then again set up a new account or use another Apple ID say example2@yahoo.com it doesn't matter , in up coming steps if any step is missed error will show , sometimes from user library , click on finder > Go > hold option key > click on library > from preferences folder drag and drop com.apple.keychain.access.plist to the desktop is done but with approval of senior apple care advisors Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

But this is to be applied when you successfully establish the Apple ID in Mac system preferences .

In your Mac while signing out from secondary authentication , if any step is missed error will show .

See the thread https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-13681

I had faced the same issue when - see the note section last paragraph .

Running safe mode is a very basic step and every one is aware of it .

How to sign out from two factor authentication and then again sign in with the Apple ID used with secondary authentication .

( a ) Open system preferences and click on iCloud , click on sign out , a pop up window appears keep the box of iCloud Drive , contacts , calendars , reminders as checked and click on keep a copy .

Immediately click on stop updating and continue , so on the next pop up click on continue with sign out , the circle rotates .

( b ) Enter your 2FA id password and click on continue , circle rotates , wait for a while and it will stuck and have patience , you can see a red notification have encircled 1 over system preferences in the dock , take cursor on top menu bar and hover over system preferences you can see SBBOD , after a while a preferences error will be shown stating there was an error in iCloud preferences , click on ok .

( c ) Now open system preferences , click on iCloud in the window you will see update Apple ID settings , some account services will not be available until you sign out again ( having a yellow exclamation mark ) , click on continue .

( d ) Again it will show update apple settings , some account services will not be available until you sign in again , click on continue .

( e ) Enter your 2FA id password and click on ok .

( f ) enter your Mac password to continue in the next window , so enter your admin password and click on ok , after a few minutes the pop up error will go away .

( g ) Check the box of the keychain and in front of it no option button will be shown as it is 2FA .

when the user has set up secondary authentication account there is always an option button in front of keychain , this is the basic difference .

( h ) Check the box of photos and iCloud Drive , it will show setting up a small circle rotates , wait for a while and then click over options button every box in the upcoming window is checked and click on done , also check the box of Siri a pop up appears do you want to merge your bookmarks and reading list with iCloud , click on ok the box for safari that was dimmed will turn on .

Finally 2FA is set up with all the boxes as checked and you can see your Apple ID used with it in the location system preferences - iCloud .

I have asked what Mac operating system is used click on apple logo > about this Mac > is it Mac OS catalina 10.15.7 or earlier versions .

The error showing Apple ID verification failed you have skipped the steps when signing out the secondary authentication account and then signed in 2FA .

I have seen this post earlier before you copied it, i wanted to try it out, but somewhere on the way, you dont understand but thank you considerably for your help.

I could not proceed with the steps above as i cant manage to log out and log in with circle going around...hoovering etc.

The account doesnt allow me to do so.

I will just have to give to apple genius, after all, its their job. These kind of issues should not be there in the first place..

Thank you much for you help and devotion, but nevertheless you keep posting your solution for the third time regarding the 2FA..

I dont have any other accounts on any device whatsoever, just tried friends on mac, and id works. Mine on the other hand, have no idea what happened, one of the solutions would be to create a new account, and the other one is to throw mac into trash and never see any product, logo or anything that even resembles this fruit of a machine.

Seems to me that icloud services would have to wait for many many virsues, in order to work properly as im so angry that i have spent 10days of trying to solve something which (apparently) is a server/apple issue in the first place. Not to mention work etc.. lost hours...

You have not mentioned which Mac operating system is used , simply signing out the Apple ID from Mac system system preferences , if it was set with secondary authentication even you create a new admin account in users and groups ( if the process of signing out in which any step is missed will show errors ) .

Your friend id account credentials are working are you taking a risk , when Apple ID is signed in empty fields your previous credentials are required and not of your friend .

You are missing some steps while signing out .
