I can't get Compressor to accept an AIF file to compress to MP3. Since QuickTime only exports to M4a this is a problem because I have to distribute audio files to internet radio companies.
Finding it difficult to believe Apple's gonna make me buy Logic X or some other program just to make an MP3 file. I don't even want to get into using Music, again.
I thought when I purchased Compressor, that it could make a simple MP3 file.
Launch the application. In the center panel click Add File. Select the file and click Add. The drop down sheet that appear includes MP3.
Close the application. Change the extensions to .aiff. See if it works then.

Why didn't I think to apply my MacOS 9 knowledge?
The "Graceful Metal Objects (7-3-21).aif" file was a direct output from Logic X. Logic even chose the extension format. Right hand, meet left hand. 😆

Compressor just doesn't like using AIF files. It will accept an MP3 file. Because, of course, it makes sense that I'd want to compress an MP3 and not the AIF. 😆🤷♂️
Even Logic X won't export or convert to a compressed file, only AIF, WAV or CAF. It makes you bounce the track to get the compressed option. Very clumsy.
How do I get Compressor to work with an audio-only file?
