My watch doesn’t work over my tattooed wrists! My workouts get cut short bc the green light can’t Infiltrate thru my tattoos! Is there a hack or am I screwed??

I just got a Series 6 and have sleeves so I’ve been reading all I can. Everybody says the epoxy bottle cap trick doesn’t work, but it does…sort of. It keeps it from unlocking but you can’t charge with it on. I have tried all sorts of different cut out shapes but nothing worked, until I tried a piece of scotch tape. I tried covering the whole sensor but it didn’t work. But just covering the the three on the left has worked! It doesn’t lock on me anymore and it charges. Bonus it doesn’t feel like anything is under there. I signed up for the forums just to try and reply to some of these threads and let people know.

Can you wear the watch on your other wrist?

The workaround is to turn off wrist detection but this comes at a price;

Turning off wrist detection affects these Apple Watch features:

When you use Apple Pay on your Apple Watch, you’ll be prompted to enter your passcode when you double-click the side button to authorize the payment.

Some Activity measurements are unavailable.

Heart rate tracking and notifications are turned off.

Apple Watch will no longer automatically lock and unlock.

Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 4 and later won't automatically make an emergency call even after it has detected a hard impact fall.
