Macbook M1 unable to drive 2 monitors (while MacBook Pro can)

I have bought the following device to connect two Monitors

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B072JK37LV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The device works fine when connected to my MacBook Pro 16'', but when connected to my MacBook Air M1 it can only drive one Monitor, which makes me deduce that the problem is with the M1 and not the dual display port adapter.

Is this a software bug that'll be address any time soon?
