My Apple TV remote was not working, so I unpaired it from the tv, and I am not sure how to repair it.

Hmmm… that is the only way to pair an unpaired remote. Maybe something else is going on.
Verify that other bluetooth devices are kept off or at a distance, so that they won’t interfere (e.g. a smartphone).
As it said on the linked support page:… “If you still need help, contact Apple Support.”
Hmmm… Tried that. It didn’t work. It said to bring it closer. I was literally setting it on top of the Apple TV.
I tried unplugging and plugging back in, and it worked. Thank you!
