After completing a project, How to best save it in case need to edit in future?

iMovie automatically saves your project as you are doing your editing. So, just close the project and it will save to your projects browser folder (where your projects are displayed as icons). You can then reopen the project, further edit it if you wish, and export it to a movie as many times as you want. Unless you manually delete the project, the project will remain to reopen right where you left off, even after you have exported it to a movie.

Edit/Copy, Edit/Paste, your iMovie library to an external drive that is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or APFS. Your iMovie app will open the library and all of your projects will be found in the project browser as described in my previous post.

Thanks Rich, I need to store the projects on an external hard drive I have up to 40 projects so my IMovie is getting close to my 2 tb of space on my computer.
