How do I transfer old Kindle and YouTube apps (iOS 9.3.6) from one iPad to another?

The app store does not support new downloads for Kindle and YouTube to devices on iOS 9.3.6. I just did a backup/restore of a iPad 2 with v9.3.6 compatible Kindle and YouTube apps to iTunes and tried to restore to an iPad Mini. The restore was successful, but the apps did not move over–the device is trying to download the apps from the AppStore (unsuccessfully).

Is there any way to move these apps using an iTunes backup/restore?

I have tried the iTunes 12.6.3 backup/restore and can confirm it works for moving out-of-print apps. But you'll need to have the appleID login of the person who originally downloaded the apps. Also, follow this HOWTO to downgrade iTunes:

You might do a web search for a Mac app that allows you to offload the apps (and other content) from the iPad to the Mac and then load them onto another iPad.

M1 Mac mini, macOS 11.4; Watch, series 5 GPS/cellular, watchOS 7.5; iPad Pro 2nd Gen, iPadOS 14.6; iPad Air 2, iPadOS 14.6; iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14.6; TV 4th Gen, tvOS 14.6  HomePods, audioOS 14.6 and Airport Express w/ Airplay 2

This is for iOS 9.3.6––well before offloading apps was supported. These iPads are from 2011. They are too slow for anything but turning pages in a Kindle app.

We could offload apps from the beginning. It used to be done with iTunes itself.

I googled and found AnyTrans for ios but it failed to transfer the old apps.

You need a version of iTunes BEFORE v12.7 to backup/restore apps. There is a link to an old version of iTunes in this thread:

If you are transferring your own older licensed copies of these apps from one of your iPads to another, that shouldn't be an issue.

It would only be an issue if you are trying to install someone else's licensed copies that you have pirated.
