icloud photos wont load from text

A friend shared photos with me over text and they are loading through an iCloud link. I have been waiting 24 hours for the photos and they still won’t load. I have plenty of storage left and I have tried on 3 different wifi networks, as well as through cellular data. Why won’t the photos load to my phone?
