iPadOS 14.6 causing battery drain

After updating to iPadOS 14.6 on my iPad Pro (9.7 inch) battery life is horrible. Before updating I would need to charge the battery every 2 to 3 days. Now my battery drains so quickly I have to charge it constantly. My usage hasn’t changed. It even goes from 100% charged to 60% in a few hours with no apps running. This is new as previous to the update the charge would hold at 100% for 8 hours. I’ve not changed the configurations nor installed new apps. What’s the fix?

Hello there MacGarrin,

Thanks for posting here on the Apple Support Communities! This is a place where other Apple users can submit questions or respond to others to help lend a hand.

We understand your iPad’s battery life has changed since a recent update. Let's take a closer look as we do our best to provide some additional insight.

To get started, be sure to review all of the suggested troubleshooting steps and battery optimization settings suggested here: Maximizing Battery Life and Lifespan Even if you don't recall anything changing, be sure to review all of the suggestions and make any of the required changes.

With that done, you can then review battery usage on your iPad under Settings > Battery. Be sure to look out for any apps that may be using up more energy than expected and for anything with excessive notifications or background activity that could be waking your iPad up.

If issues persist or if you have additional questions, you may want to contact Apple Support directly.

We hope this helps get you pointed in the right direction.

Take care.

Apple's feedback forms offer no personal feedback from Apple, UNLESS this has changed, like VERY recently.

There is NO acknowledged feedback replies from Apple at their feedback pages due to the sheer amount of product feedback Apple gets at these feedback form pages.

As far as I am still aware, feedback from those pages go unacknowledged and no direct personal replies are ever given/sent.

I understand where you are coming from but that is not correct. I truly got a phone call from Apple about the issue, they do read it. As you said, the sheer amount of feedback given to Apple is a-lot so not everyone will get a reply. I myself was very skeptical but it turns out they do listen to consumers. Heres what it says on the feedback page “If you provide your email address, you agree that we may contact you to better understand the comments you submitted.” Even if you or anyone in this thread thinks no one at Apple will see, just send it anyway, its better to have the problem looked at by an Apple rep than suffering with the issue.
