Apple CarPlay is not working after update to 14.6

My vehicle has centre console plugins and CarPlay was working this morning. I just updated my phone and it is now not working - also tried with old iPhone 6s’ and iPhone 8’s. It will charge but will not detect the device for media playing or CarPlay. I have seen that this can be related to a change by Apple to not allow the use of centre consoles - my vehicle only has centre consoles so now CarPlay will not work at all. When is a fix coming for this?
