Siri cannot make Whatsapp calls

Hi, so I got the call from Apple support July 27 2021 and they asked me to restore my phone via iTunes. And then set it up as new phone. And then download WhatsApp. This has actually worked!! But when I restored my backup it stopped working again. So as per Apple support, there something in my back up that is causing it.. so unfortunately I have to restore my phone in order to have Siri working again with WhatsApp..

so restore your phone and manually download all the apps.. but unfortunately you will lose all your data.

Try saying “audio call Dan(contact name) with whatsapp”

Update to IOS 14.8. It fixes that problem

There is an alternative way if you are using CarPlay. Touch WhatsApp icon and when it appears on the screen, touch phone icon. CarPlay will ask who do you want to call. You just tell the contact name as it’s on the phone and CarPlay will call that contact with WhatsApp

I did, I get the same response. It's not Siri non understanding the command, it's somehow not recognizing the whatsapp contacts

There is one more thing, so when you download manually then try to make a voice call from WhatsApp because then WhatsApp will have the microphone access and then Siri can access it.

I have the same exact problem, I've also tried restoring the iPhone, nothing, it just won't work. I tried also the above-proposed solutions, nothing, same problem.

This is really really a problem, I drive all day and that function was extremely important for me.

Today I tried also to put the iPhone in DFU mode, restore from "Music" (iTunes), configure as a new iPhone rather than restoring from the backup, install whatsapp, give all permissions to Siri. Same problem.

This has happened to me also.. very annoying. Only thing that happened to me that I accidentally uninstalled the WhatsApp. And when I reinstalled it, the Siri stopped working, and keep saying, “ I don’t have WhatsApp number for”Contact”.

Thanks, I did the exact same thing yesterday, restored from iTunes, installed whatsapp manually, but the problem was there even before restoring from the backup.. so I really don't understand... I will try again. If it doesn't work, it will be finally the moment to move to Telegram ;)

I have this question too, I can't recall which update I did, but suddenly it just stopped working, this is really a problem when using CarPlay, I hope Apple gives us a real fix soon, takes a lot of time to reset everything!

Idk man. Make sure siri has all the permission with whatsapp and contacts
