Make text darker and increase contrast

I want to make the text darker my old iMac (2011), iPad (2014) and iPhone SE (2nd edition) (2020. I have difficulty distinguishing the grey text from the light background on all my devices. I've tried using "increase contrast" and this just increases the brightness and washes out the test instead of making the dark parts, especially the text darker. A few parts of the screen are black so my screens can do black.

Any insight, solutions, hacks?

Yes, i’m not that thrilled by it either… you could turn in font smoothing under system preferences>General… and under Finder>view options ( apple+J on your keyboard) you could increase the text size from 10 to 16 points. Sadly, unless you were to get an app to change things, those seem to be your options, unless you go to system preferences then display them to the display tab then go to resolution then go to scaled. Then pick larger text.

Your iPhone and iPad should support Dark mode which may help you, in addition there should be extra options under Accessibility. On your iMac, if should be under system prefs—> accessibility. If you have Mojave installed, Dark mode should be available under system preferences>general>Appearance. On your mac you might want to do a screen re-calibration
