How do you annotate or mark up PDF documents with apple notes?

Annotating PDFs in Notes Since moving on from OneNote I have reverted to using the OG Apple Notes App. It has been sufficient until I tried to annotate some notes in the form of a PDF. Firstly the PDF can't be imported to the note itself, only the first page or a small icon. This should be an option to make the note neater but shouldn't be the only option. Once I got over that I found that it was impossible to write on the pdf using the Apple Pen without accidentally scrolling the thumbnails on the right-hand side. There should be an option to remove or relocate the thumbnails to avoid this.

Apple Notes, PDF markup not saving I have attached a PDF in a apple note so I can markup and add notes to said PDF but all the time it doesn’t save and I lose all the markups I did during that session.

ipad notes apps not saving pdf annotations Every time I try to take notes on a pdf on my notes app, regardless if the note is saved on my ipad or my icloud the annotations are deleted. I just redid an hour worth of notes and they all got deleted. This keeps happening. Annotations do not save on my pdfs in my notes app. I turn off markup and press done and then try to reopen the pdf and all annotations but a spare few are deleted. Apple really needs to have a save annotations option, because this keeps happening to my notes and I have lost hours of work.
