Disk volume

Hi, just downloaded macOS Big Sur on an empty MacBook Air and the disk is half-full with "other volumes". How can I reduce this volume?

Not enough space for system upgrade / Delete "Other Volumes" in macOS Big Sur Hi, I am trying to reinstall the latest version of macOS but couldn't because I only have 13GB of space left. We can see that "Other Volumes" is taking a huge space, 104GB. I tried to delete/erase, none of these functions are working. I did not use this computer for 2 years, bought in 2019. Since I am trying to sell it, I erased everything and reinstalled Big Sur. I prefer installing the latest version before giving to someone else. I did erase and reinstall MacBook few times in the past but never encountered such issue. Your help would be much appreciated if someone can tell me what to do. "Erase and Volume -" are both not functioning, appears to be grey. I did reinstall Big Sur twice already, erased everything before doing so. Still having the same issue. Thank you!

See used and available storage space on your Mac and Apples Final Word on Managing the Other Category. Other: Contains files that don’t fall into the categories listed here. This category primarily includes files and data used by the system, such as log files, caches, VM files, and other runtime system resources. Also included are temporary files, fonts, app support files, and plug-ins. You can't manage the contents of this category. The contents are managed by macOS, and the category varies in size depending on the current state of your Mac.
