Banks generally do not change the interest rate on credit cards. The interest rate is only partially based on your FICO score. Banks use their own internal risk assessment too. They look at payment history and length of credit. If the account you have is relatively new, 1 to 3 years, you have not established enough history on that card for the bank to lower your rate. They like to see 5 or more years of onetime payments.
If there has been a major change in your FICO score, you’ve maintained an excellent FICO score (775+) for several years, or a large change in annual income, you might request they review the interest rate on a credit card account.
