1080p Apple TV

so how does one install Apps on the older 1080p Apple TV? Everything I read says use the App Store icon, but after restoring my AppleTV to factory last night, I don't have an App Store icon. No software updates either.

As I recall, there was a way to install new apps via the Settings... but that menu item seems to be gone....

Any suggestions?

You need an Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K model to add apps. If you have an earlier generation Apple TV you must upgrade in order to have access to the App Store. To help you identify which model you currently own please click Identify your Apple TV model. If you do need to upgrade please navigate to www.apple.com/tv . My recommendation is the Apple TV 4K
