Im trying to reset my phone and do not remember the old phone number i had when i first made my apple id. my email is ***@ gmail.com, i cant remember my password and it wont let me make a new password without knowing my old phone number?

Eter the Apple (iCloud) ID, and click Forgot Password. See if you can get a Rescue or Notification email option. Link to contact Apple Support at the end of the 2nd article.
