I can’t register a fingerprint for Touch ID.

recently my Touch ID wasn’t working so I deleted the fingerprint and wanted to reset it. I tried to create a new fingerprint but the third time I put my finger on the home button(without pressing it) it resets the entire thing and won’t let me continue past the third tap. I also have the same problem when I try using another finger. How can I reset my Touch ID?

Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS. Make sure that your fingers and the Touch ID sensor are clean and dry. ... Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and make sure that iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is on, and that you've enrolled one or more fingerprints. Try enrolling a different finger.
