IPhone 3G Software Update Problems - What do we do Apple?

Been having problems with my IPhone 3G ever since i updated the software and finally went into the store today to speak with someone.

Firstly, i was told that the software isn't for the iphone 3G and that it says this in the small print - my question then is why does it prompt you to install the new software?! surely apple are clever enough to make sure it doesn't install new software on phones that are not compatible!?

Second, once I spoke to someone else he advised that it was a common problem and as yet they haven't got a solution?!

So i am just meant to carry on with a substandard product that is continually dropping calls, not allowing me to hang up calls, behaving really slow and interfering with my business?!

They told me a phone restore would help and sent me away, Ive done this twice now and it didn't and it is still playing up. Dont waste your time if they have told you to do that. It doesn't work.

Usually you get great service from apple but they have really dropped the ball... why would they allow for a software update to 3G phones if it slows it down and messes up your product?!

My phone contract is up for renewal next month and was going to get the new iphone 4 despite the problems but may now opt for a Blackberry... NEVER thought i would say that again!

My question is - what is going on with Apple and what do they want us to do?

Reports have surfaced that iOS 4.1 (currently still in beta) has significantly increased the speed of iPhone 3G users... now we just have to wait patiently for them to work out the last of the bugs and release it publicly for consumers... problems will be solved soon enough!

Google "iOS 4.1 for iphone 3G" and you'll get all of the info. I believe recently the 3rd beta has been released... so hoping for consumer release soon!!

Your kidding right?!? Have you not read these forums? I can only speak for mine because I did not go into specific detail with my coworkers, well except they said "It now *****".

1. Mail doesn't open.
2. Mail crashes
3. GPS is worst
4. Internet is slow and nearly unusable
5. Battery barely last 4 hours from full charge

All this since the update.

I can go on and on. I'm not a techie by any means. I don't want to jailbreak my phone. I have no clue what how or why half the **** people talk about when it comes to technical stuff. Apple realizes that simplicity is an important factor when it comes to products. They advertise "you already know how to use the I-pad".

Anyway, the whole point of the post was in response to we are all having problems with the upgraded 3G. I haven't run into a single person that has upgraded that has not had serious problems. I don't ask, "really, could you be specific?" You see most of us don't care, we just want it to work.

I've upgraded to iOS4 and now I have the following problems:

- after 1 hour working with it (iPhone 3G) it becomes VERY SLOW;
- when receiving a call, it crashes, and reboots;
- when receiving a call, it doesn't let me answer, I have to return the call (€€)

I thought that if I stopped the running applications it would work better, but with no applications running, i wasn't able to the iTunes on the iPhone.

Help?

It's a huge problem. I haven't met anyone with a 3G that doesn't have the problem. I think it's about 5 people I know of off the top of my head.

Why can't they just update the software to fix it for us? It's been weeks now and I'm losing patience. My phone is a piece of $#!+. And, why can't we go back to older software?

I'm an Apple diehard customer and am about to leave the cult. The apparent arrogance of this company is going cost them a fortune in lost customers if they don't act fast.

Signed, soon to be a former Applehead.

Bizuser, was that directed at me? If so, you'd better read my posts again. I was quoting somebody else's response, and taking issue with it. I've been slamming Apple ever since I took the upgrade to 4.x, and I am a strong supporter of downgrading 3G iPhones back to 3.1.3 ... Not because I enjoy going around the "Apple system", but because it works and Apple still hasn't addressed the problem properly.
