I’ve damaged my ear from the speaker turning on very loud when people call.

Just re-starting this thread because my ear is really hurting and I’m worried it’s permanently damaged.

My cheek/side face keeps turning on the loud speaker when I take a phone call. I use my phone a lot to listen to music/audio books and love the volume of the speaker, it’s amazing, BUT about 10 times since I upgraded to iPhone 11 earlier this year (2021) my ear has been blasted when my face accidentally turns on the speaker. I’ve screamed when this has happened, it’s shocking and so painful (poor friends abs work colleagues).

I noticed someone suggest the button be made more safe by changing to a slide button, plllleeeaaasseeee do this!! Or something 😭

I’m in so much pain today after it happened yesterday and my hearing in my left ear is not right.

Anyone else experiencing this? Please speak up and Apple may make a change.

Cheers

Hiya,

Thanks for this, I’ve just made the adjustments you suggested.

Random side note: I did get a warning from my phone about headphone noise, but my phone was connected to a car stereo via Bluetooth (2009 Honda Civic) it’s quite quiet on full volume, so I didn’t make a change at the time.

Now I’m worried about my ear, I will. I’ve also read the help article and it says my ear shouldn’t be permanently damaged after short bursts like this, so fingers crossed (I feel a bit less worried) will report back if issue happens again after fix.

thanks for fast reply
