Moving from Airmail back to Apple Mail - how to import local mailboxes?

Hi, I have Airmail 3 with a lot of emails moved into folders and subfolders stored in local storage/mailboxes. I would like to get these back into AppleMail, but can't seem to find how to export/import them.

All email apps have methods for importing or exporting your data. They also provide instructions for how to do it in their Help menus. You may have to make a choice as to which format to use. You have to do the research

  • First open Mail and set it up according to the instructions. You will have to first set up a new mail account.
  • Next you may be prompted to import data from another app. You may have to state the desired formatting to be used.
  • Check Mail's Help menu as to what formats it can accept. CSV is a commonly used one.
  • Then check Airmail's Help menu to determine what formats it can export in. You need to determine a format which both apps recognize.
  • Next, follow the instructions for doing the import. You might be able to have Mail do the import directly, or you may have to have Airmail create an export file, which Mail can then import.
  • Since you are going to use Mail, you need to know that Mail does not store any email addresses. They are stored in the Apple Contacts app. Again, refer to the Contacts Help menu for its instructions on importing the contact data into Contacts.
  • Or you could use a good email app like the free app, Thunderbird which I have found to be far more reliable with many more features.

Good luck.
