Top-bottom split screen view on iPad

As far as I know (and tried), there is no way to put one app in the top half and another in the bottom, especially when using the ipad vertically, which feature exists (and is default) on my Samsung tablet and is incredibly useful when taking handwritten notes (w/ apple pencil) on a video for example. I already sent a feature request to Apple but I’m just one person and I don’t know how many people would also support such a request. Or is there any workaround that I haven’t thought about?

Split-screen view in iPadOS is restricted to landscape. Whilst you can activate the screen-rotation lock - and then rotate your iPad to Portrait orientation, this will not be particularly useful as Apps will still be locked in their relative screen orientation. There is no “workaround” to emulate the functionality that you seek.
