SO A BROKEN IMAC WAS GIVEN TO ME. I DO NOT HAVE ANY WAY TO FIND THE SERIAL NUMBER CAUSE THE PERSON THAT GAVE IT TO ME KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT IT. THERE IS NO SERIAL NUMBER ON THE THE SURFACE OF THE COMPUTER, IT WONT TURN ON AND I DONT HAVE THE BOX WHAT DO I DO TO FIGURE OUT THE YEAR IT WAS MADE THE SPECS ETC SO I CAN FIX IT?

Find the serial number printed on the underside of your Mac, near the regulatory markings.
If it is like my other devices, it is very small and difficult to see. I need the magnifying glass on my iPhone to read the serial number on the back of my MacBool Pro.
You can usually find the serial number and model info printed on the underside of the Mac.
If it's an iMac the serial number and model will be printed on the underside of the foot of the stand.
