Airport Time Capsule not responding

Hi,

I tried using my ATC after a really long time. Since I wanted to use my windows computer and not Mac this time, I set up Airport Utility and using wi-fi-tried to get into the ATC (where I have some old data that I needed access to). Long story short, it didnot work for some reason> It did not accept the password I set up the last time. Anyways, I tired to make some changes in its setup (don't know what I did exactly) but the ATC stopped responding. Now, even my Mac can't connect to it. I followed the steps provided for factory setup, but that did not work either. Everytime the Airport utility will try to connect to the ATC, it will say "an unexpected error occurred" and I will need to cancel the process. The light is slow flashing amber.

It does not matter to me at this stage if I set this up as a router or just as a hard drive (till I am able to get hold of my data). Please help.

Do you know which model (tower or flat) Time Capsule (TC) you have? ... or roughly how old it is? The status LED flashing amber is potentially a "good" sign that the TC should still be able to be accessed.

At this point, I suggest doing another "factory default" reset. Note that this should not affect any data stored on the TC's internal drive. To do so:

  1. Start with the base station disconnected from power.
  2. While holding in the reset button, re-apply power to the base station.
  3. Keep holding in the reset button until the status LED starts flashing rapidly, and then, let go of the button.

Please post back your results.
