Apple Watch for Tween

Hello,

I have an iPhone and watch. I would like to get a watch for my 11 year old. I would like to pay for cellular on it so she would have her own phone number and ability to text. But I would use this in place of a phone for her. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Apple Watch w/out cellular My grandson would like an Apple Watch (he has an iPhone) but his mother doesn’t want to add another cellular device to her provider. The grandson wants the time and sports timing ability as he runs. Can I buy any watch and simply not activate the cellular connectivity?
