Repetitive "Finder wants to make changes" dialog

Following each software upgrade (currently on MacOS 11.4), I am prompted to enter my password (or double click on apple watch) with a dialog that says "Finder wants to make changes. Enter your password to allow this." This dialog repeats hundreds of times (!).

It appears that there is a permissions problem somewhere, but the dialog gives no hint what file or files are causing the problem.

If I patiently double-click my Apple watch for an hour or two it appears that whatever process is causing this eventually finishes and I don't see the error again for a few months and then it starts up again (probably after the next update).

Any ideas on how to track down the permissions problem?

Accountsd asking you often…

Just open the "Keychain Access", click right on the "login" keychain in the sidebar, select "Change settings for Keychain "login"" and unselect both options "Lock after ..." and "Lock when sleeping". – Tom Kraina Sep 8 '16 at 10:55

If your Mac keeps asking for the login keychain password

The password of your macOS user account might not match the password of your login keychain. Either create a new login keychain or update it with your new password.
