Double check that:

1) Both the iPhone and iMac have Bluetooth on, and are connected to the same wifi network

2) In your mac, open a Finder window, select Airdrop in the Sidebar and make sure that it is available to anyone, or contacts only:

Thanks Luis for helping, yes I am discoverable by everyone. It is really weird I can see my MacBook and phone are connected now via bluetooth under devices on the bluetooth option on phone and laptop but this seems to prevent Air Drop.

If I disconnect my Mac Book can see the phone and send things but not vice versa.

The only thing I have done is Update to Big Sur my phone is up to date and is an SE I bought a year ago.

So confused!
