For the best user experience, you are advised to purchase a replacement Apple Remote (aluminum). You will need to link a replacement remote to the Apple TV box.
Your can restore the Apple TV and then connect the CiderTV Mac app, to help set up some basic functions, and help set up the Remote in Control Center on an iPhone or iPad.
