reset wifi settings

I am facing slow internet connection and my wifi can not see hotspot from android device.

I found an article mentioning the below steps to eliminate this issue. I moved the below files into recycle bin and the saved WIFI are still there.

I am wondering what is the purpose of those files and how to reset everything related to WIFI please

  1. Open Finder.
  2. In the Menu bar (across the top of the screen) select Go and then Go to Folder.
  3. Type /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and click Go.
  4. This will open the System Configuration files and then delete the following files:
    • com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    • com.apple.network.identification.plist
    • com.apple.wifi.message-tracer.plist
    • NetworkInterfaces.plist
    • preferences.plist

Hey there, srustom,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. We understand you're having some trouble with Wi-Fi on your MacBook Pro. You've come to the right place to get some help!

First, we'd suggest using the steps in If your Mac doesn't connect to the Internet over Wi-Fi - Apple Support. Even though this article focuses on not being able to connect, the steps can still be helpful for a slow connection.

Additionally, issues with Wi-Fi performance may be caused by interference. We'd suggest checking Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference - Apple Support to help with that.

Best!
