How to log in with Apple ID (having issues with verification)?

After resetting my password successfully I am still unable to access iCloud as I get the following error message:


Your Apple ID email address must be verified before you can sign in. Verify the address below or choose a different address to use as your Apple ID.


Once I enter my email address, I get this message:


 This email address is not available. Choose a different address.


Any advice or thoughts here?
