You don't say what exact mac this is.. especially the year, M1 / Intel ...(?)
Looks like a hardware issue.
You can Try resetting the SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
Re-seat the RAM on older models
Does it appear the same on an external screen to test?
