I have an existing 2TB iCloud plan, and am considering the premier plan (also with the 2TB storage). Your site says after free trial is up, my prior 2TB plan is ‘canceled.’ Does that mean I lose the data in my previous plan? Does it keep all my existing data/pics when the new one kicks in?

Based on the information you have shared, are you referring to the Apple One subscription? If so, you don't have to cancel your pervious plan when signing up. iCloud is directly related to your Apple ID as long as the Apple ID remains the same you will not lose any of your previous data.

As stated above, a standalone iCloud storage plan transfers transparently over into an Apple One plan, once Apple One is activated.
Other users in Family Sharing with existing storage plans will have to transfer from their individual plans to the Apple One plan within Family Sharing, if they have those plans and wish to transition.
