Apple id password

I have the same apple id on two of my phones, the old and the new one. I have to update an app that requires the Apple id password that i forgot so I logged in my old phone and changed it to a new one with the help of my phones password. I went straight to the Appstore to update the app with the new password but it keeps telling me that the password is wrong and though I checked that my apple ID is there now when i click “change the password” the id of the former user keeps appearing.

A request for another Apple ID password is often caused by updates to apps/purchases that were made when using the other ID. Those purchases are tied to the other ID and can't be transferred. One option is to delete the apps/purchases made by the other ID and download them using the new ID if desired. After deleting the apps, it may be necessary to restart the device/computer before you can download the apps again. If necessary, check your purchases history to see which apps/purchases weren’t made by the current ID.
