Brand new Ipad Air 4th Generation will not accept password.

I have just received a new Ipad Air 4th Generation today and setup the password and the finger print scanner on the top button but now when I enter my password its says its wrong. Its the same password I have used for years but hey maybe I stuffed up.

Now what do I do ?

The new Ipad does not come with a standard USB cable to plug into my Windows PC its the new C Type USB so how can I reset the password on the brand new device without a PC connection ?

Thank you for this clarification. What doesn’t make much sense is your iPad “forgetting” the Passcode.

I suggest that you restore your iPad to Factory Settings - as this will both completely reset the iPad and install a fresh copy of iPadOS 14.6.

Would this be your iPad Passcode, or AppleID Password?

An iPad passcode cannot be reset or modified from another device. If your iPad is disabled, or the iPad passcode is not recognised, you have no alternative other than to follow this process:

You’ll need access to either a PC (with iTunes installed) or a Mac (with iTunes or Finder - as appropriate for the installed version of MacOS).

Download and use iTunes for Windows – Apple Support

Update to the latest version of iTunes – Apple Support

Use of a PC or Mac is unavoidable. If you don’t have access to a suitable computer of your own, that of a helpful friend or family member will suffice. Alternatively, the technicians at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) will be delighted to assist.

You may also need your AppleID and associated password. If these have also been forgotten, they can be recovered here:

https://iforgot.apple.com

To recover your credentials, you’ll need access to one of the following:

  • Your primary email address mailbox that corresponds with your AppleID
  • Any of the secondary/recovery email addresses that should be configured for your AppleID account
  • Any of the trusted telephone numbers (fixed line or Cellular/Mobile) that are associated with your AppleID

Unless you AppleID account has not been fully/correctly configured, or has been seriously neglected, recovery of the AppleID and password should not be difficult.

When you recover access to your credentials, you would be well advised to log-in to your AppleID account from a web browser - and verify/update any email addresses and trusted telephone numbers:

As for connection of your iPad (with USB-C connection) to a computer with an older USB Type-A port, you clearly cannot use the USB-C to USB-C charging cable supplied with your iPad and Power Adapter. Instead you simply require a USB3 Type-A to USB-C cable - an MFI Certified cable being recommended. Whilst these cables should be available from good computer stores, Apple market appropriate cables in a variety of lengths. Here are two examples of MFI Certified cables manufactured by Mophie:

I am referring to the Ipad passcode the login screen to access the device the forum if for IPad not Apple login. At first I set the password from new and the device forgot it. Then I have reformatted it back to new it did software upgrades and I set it up again and now it’s has done the same thing. I set up the password again and now I try to login again and it has forgotten the password.

I have already completely restored the IPad I had to got and get a special USB cable because the new USB C cable that comes with IPad does support Windows PC. I have already completely restored the Ioad and it did it again it does not recognise the login password. So what should I do restore it again and again or should I send it back as faulty ?

So after another complete restore now it won’t accept two factor authentication- but even worse after the restore I entered the password again and again the device will not recognise the password the data entry is fine you can see the touchpad working when typing in the two factor identification codes - it’s a software issue for sure.
